Serial Scanner using OPOS Driver

This article is intended for the use of connecting a serial scanner to a terminal and using the OPOS Configuration Utility to obtain working ability.

Points within this article refer to the use of the OPOS Configuration Utility (OPOSCfgUtil.exe), which is installed by default in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Idealpos Solutions\Idealpos 6.0 folder.




If a Magellan 8200 or QS6000 scanner is installed, by default in the OPOS Configuration Utility the value of the TerminatorByte is set to 0D.



If a serial scanner is not working in Idealpos, You will need to check the TerminatorByte setting.Close Idealpos
  1. Close Idealpos.
  2. Go to Start > Run > Type regedit > Run > The registry editor will open.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > OLEforRetail > ServiceOPOS > Scanner.
  4. "Example: Magellan8200" - Locate the binary TerminatorByte.
  5. If the value is 01, the TerminatorByte is tripped. 

  1. Double-click on the TerminatorByte to edit the binary.

  1. Change the value from 01 to 0D.

  1. Click on the OK button to confirm > Restart Idealpos and test the scanner again.
